Sweet
16 parties are much awaited and much loved parties in USA, NJ. Every teen girl waits
to enter this sweet romantic age. An age where each girl wishes and says:
“I
wait for my age to fly away,
To
go as far as it could some day
I
wait for the wings to get on me, to make me fly as a bee.

wait for the day to rise again; I shall welcome it with a grin,

The
age of entering the youth, the age full of hopes, desires and dreams. This is
celebrated along with family, friends and acquaintances. The celebration
consists of a large party and listed below are the themes that take place
during the celebration.
Candle
lighting ceremony: Well, lighting the candles and blowing them off is not a new
thing on birthdays, but here in sweet 16 parties, each candle holds a specific
importance. It is basically the birthday girl lights candle for all those
present in the party, to tell how much and why are they special for her. Read

The
first candle stands for the birthday girl’s parents. The second one stands for
girl’s siblings, if she is the only child, then it represents her grandparents.
Candles
3, 4, 5, 6 are for other family members. While 7to 14 are for girl’s friends.
The
15th candle is for girl’s best friends or close friend. While the 16th
represents her boyfriend or her male friend. The 17th candle is for
her good luck.
After
the candle lighting ceremony, begins the Shoe
ceremony. This ceremony also holds equal importance in a girl’s life. Here,
the girl’s father or her uncle brings a decorated pillow and a pair of high
heel shoes for her and helps her in wearing them. This represents that she is
now growing up to be a woman.
Next
comes Tiara ceremony: Here, the
girl’s mother brings for her a decorated tiara and places on her head, which
means she is now growing up to become a woman. Sometimes this Tiara ceremony is
combined with Shoe ceremony. With this the girl can be pampered at the same
time by both the parents.
Father-daughter
dance: Here,
the father and the girl perform a dance on slow jazz music, while all the other
family members watch and enjoy the performances.
